I need the early history of the Sicillian Mafia?

I'm doing a public speech for school on the Sicillian Mafia and I need some facts like when it started, why it started and espiecally like the founders of it and who brought it up. I have about 4 lines and I don't want the Wikipedia page C&P'D. How are my first few lines? My topic is going to be on the Sicillian Mafia. I chose this topic because I am interested in Mafia history and the roll they play today. The Mafia is a criminal syndicate that emerged in the mid 19th century in Sicily. It is made up of different criminal groups that follows the same orginizational structure and code of conduct.
