Does anyone know what sugar in your urine could potentially mean?

Alright I went to the doctors today because I thought I had a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). Turns out, I have sugar in my urine? I'm going back tomorrow for some blood tests but I would like to know if this is a problem? Does it mean I have high blood sugar levels or maybe I am a diabedic? Or is it nothing? I realize it causes vaginal infections and I have medication for that now I just want to know why she wants to check my blood sugar level.
