How many years does a show have to be on to be syndicated?

It usually takes about four to five years for a currently-running network series to enter syndication (as a series begins its fifth season or reaches its 75th episode, the earlier episodes are released [this is often referred to as off-network syndication; really popular shows might have at least two years or so trimmed off that period if leased to a cable network]).
